Volvo V60 comes out with Refreshed look.

Volvo V60 with its sporty five door is here. The new model from Volvo is seen as an attempt to expand its sales in the European wagon category. The new Volvo V60 is a smart take off from the S60, with the visible addition being the five-door feature. The Volvo V60 comes with eight different engines, and hopes to sell around 50k cars per year.

Four inline-four petrol engines, including two 1.6-liter units that produce up to 240 Nm of torque and either 150 or 180 horsepower (112 or 134 kW), and two 2.0-liter models that produce either 203 hp (151 kW) and 300 Nm or 240 hp (179 kW) and 320 Nm would be part of the pack. Further, the inline-six would have a 3.0-liter unit that returns 304 hp (227 kW) and up to 440 Nm. The Volvo V60 is capable of racing from 0 to 100km /h in 6.6 seconds, while the electronically-limited top speed is 250 km/h.

The Volvo V60 also comes in a diesel variant that boast of 115-hp (86 kW), 270-Nm 1.6-liter inline-four, and two inline-five engines. The first, a 2.0-liter model, is capable of 163 hp (122 kW) and up to 400 Nm, while the top diesel model burns 205 horsepower (153 kW) and up to 420 Nm.

The coupe styled roof-sporting car has been built on a new dynamic chassis for the European market. Features include collision blocking aspects, pedestrian detection, all-wheel drive, tight steering, stability control and an advanced brake system. The price is not disclosed yet by the company.

Nissan Cube - What the Auto Press Says - usnews.rankingsandreviews

The 2010 Nissan Cube ranks 16 out of 30 Affordable Small Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 32 published reviews and test drives of the Nissan Cube, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

In its second year on the market, the 2010 Nissan Cube offers the same bold styling, spacious interior and low price that make it appealing to those who want a hatchback that makes a statement. Still, the car’s design is unusual enough that it may cause some to overlook it for that reason alone.

The Nissan Cube (with a lower-case c) is the car to choose if you want a ride that screams eccentricity. In fact, the Cube’s unusual styling is arguably the most obvious reason to buy it. Boasting an asymmetrical design, the Cube’s exterior includes eye-catching elements like windows designed to look like picture frames and a rear window that appears to sweep around the rear right side. Even the inside has a bunch of fun and funky touches, like a ceiling with a water-drop design that sports concentric circles. There is also the option for a 20-color lighting package, which cycles through various colors at your feet while you drive.

In addition to look-at-me styling, the Cube also offers good handling dynamics and excellent maneuverability. It boasts a number of innovative storage options, like bungee-cords on the doors for storing maps or other papers. It even has exceptionally comfortable front seats, all for an affordable price.

Still, the Cube does have some drawbacks. To begin with, its greatest asset may also be its biggest liability. Its unique styling will undoubtedly be enough of a turn-off to some consumers to cause them to cross it off their shopping lists. Furthermore, the Cube has poor acceleration and a low highway fuel economy rating. There are definitely other cars that should be considered with the Cube.

The Honda Fit may cost $1,000 more than the Cube, but it offers one of the most versatile cabins of any vehicle in the class, has a phenomenal fuel economy rating of 28/35 mpg and is considered legitimately fun to drive. The Kia Soul is one of the Cube’s direct competitors in the “box-car” segment. It offers styling that is less polarizing than the Cube’s, a roomier rear seat and a starting price that is around $700 less than the Cube. Finally, the Toyota Yaris is a fairly bare-bones vehicle in comparison to the Cube, but it offers a fantastic 29/35 mpg fuel economy rating and a starting price of about $1,500 less than the Cube.

The Cube is available in four trims -- the 1.8, 1.8S, 1.8SL and top-of-the-line Krom (pronounced "chrome"). Since little has changed about the Cube for the 2010 model year, you may want to consider buying a 2009 model. You may be able to get a discount as dealers try to make room on their lots for the new 2010 models. You should also check out this month's Nissan Deals, where we've done the research so you can get the best discounts and incentives on a new Nissan.

  • "Looks aside, we still think the Cube is a clever package that should win many cubist converts. Like its predecessor, the new Cube is based on Nissan's B platform, which also underpins the Versa hatch and sedan. With a claimed starting price of "around $14,000," the Cube should be a roomier alternative to a five-door Versa for only about a thousand dollars more." -- Car and Driver
  • "Nissan's Cube offers a surprising amount of space and practicality in a small and highly styled packaged. People shopping small sport utility vehicles, and outgoing folk looking for something beyond the ordinary subcompact universe should give Nissan's personality infused little box a look." -- Consumer Guide
  • "Awkward proportions and asymmetric styling prove big barriers that mask the Cube's many strengths-including a lively drive, impressive interior room, and attractive details." -- Motor Trend
  • "If you like the look of the Cube, you'll also enjoy its utility. There's nothing like a little box for a place to put your stuff, starting with a large rear door that opens like a refrigerator to swallow cargo. And Nissan was clever enough to hinge the door so that it opens from the curb in countries where we drive and park on the right side of the road." -- Minneapolis Star Tribune
  • "To stand out in the square car market, the company seems to have made "quirkiness" their signature on the Cube. A byproduct of this design is that you finally have a car with a rear window big enough that short people can see out of." -- CNET

Cube Performance - 7.0 (Good)

Those interested in the Nissan Cube probably don’t have much interest in drag racing. That’s good because the Cube won’t win any races. Still, its maneuverability and handling surprise some reviewers. Consumer Guide says the "Cube has no sporting intentions and generally imparts a comfortable ride around town, but can't completely smother large bumps." Read More

Cube Exterior - 7.8 (Good)

Reviewers agree that the 2010 Nissan Cube’s asymmetrical design is one of the most unique in its class -- and most of them like it. CNET says that, "Compared to the other box-shaped cars, the Cube has the ‘edgiest’ design." Nonetheless, the design is polarizing enough to be a deterrent to some. Read More

Cube Interior - 8.5 (Very Good)

Reviewers are impressed with how well thought-out the Cube’s interior is, especially given its affordable price. Even though its materials are on the cheaper side, they are well laid out and display thoughtful design touches like a solar system-inspired gauge cluster. AutoGuide.com says, "Even with all this functionality, Nissan has included some frivolity standard and offers plenty of silly details as options. One such detail is the design of the roof, which resembles a water drop hitting a pool of water. And it doesn't just look that way; the ceiling fabric is actually textured." On top of that, the Cube’s sheer number of available features rivals those of some more upscale cars. Read More

Cube Safety - NA

Neither the federal government nor the insurance industry has crash tested the 2010 Nissan Cube, but it does offer a number of standard safety features to help ease any concerns about safety. Read More

Cube Reliability - 6.0 (Mediocre)

The 2010 Nissan Cube reliability score shown is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS). The 2010 Nissan Cube is backed by a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty. Audi A3 reviewed by edmunds.com

In crowded European cities, small, space-efficient vehicles are very popular because of their versatility, fuel-efficiency and nimble nature. These vehicles exist in America as well, but they are not typically offered by luxury automakers, as it's assumed that Americans associate compact vehicles with cheapness. One vehicle meant to break that tradition is the Audi A3.

Introduced a decade ago in Europe and brought to the United States in 2006, the A3 is Audi's entry-level model for the North American market. Smaller and lighter than an A4 2.0T Avant Quattro, the front-drive Audi A3 presents a strong argument for buying a bargain sport wagon, provided one goes easy on the options. And just because this is Audi's entry-level car doesn't mean the company cuts corners on quality. The cabin's design and materials are up to the lofty standards Audi has set for the industry, meaning everything fits tightly, moves with precision and looks and feels top-shelf.

The A3 remains an alternative choice -- no other luxury automaker makes a directly competing small hatchback. It's an upscale alternative to more mainstream hatchbacks, a cheaper alternative to a regular luxury wagon, and with the clean-burning diesel engine, an extremely-fuel efficient alternative to hybrids. No matter how you look at it, though, the A3 offers the distinct German flavor of Audi, meaning one of engineering excellence combined with an upscale cabin.

Current Audi A3

The Audi A3 is available in Premium and Premium Plus trim levels. Slip inside and it's readily apparent that the A3 continues Audi's tradition of utilizing first-class materials throughout the cabin. Real metal rings around the dash vents and audio controls are accented by the solid action of the gear selector and climate-control dials. Standard features on the Premium include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seating and a 10-speaker sound system. Step up to the Premium Plus and the list grows to include amenities like xenon headlights, Bluetooth and a power driver seat. Major options include a navigation system, heated seats, a sunroof and adaptive suspension dampers. But go crazy on the options and the A3's sticker will rapidly approach uncomfortable levels.

The A3 is offered with two appealing but very different engines. The first, more traditional choice is the gasoline-fueled turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. The other is a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder (dubbed TDI) that produces 140 hp and a healthy 236 lb-ft of torque. More impressively, it returns 34 mpg combined.

Gasoline-powered A3 models are offered with either front-wheel drive or Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The TDI is only offered with front-wheel drive. Front-wheel-drive gasoline models can be equipped with either a six-speed manual transmission or Audi's quick-shifting S tronic automated dual-clutch six-speed manual transmission. AWD models and the TDI are limited to the S tronic transmission.

As with the rest of the Audi family, the A3's chassis strikes an agreeable balance between athletic handling and a comfy ride. Its steering does a superb job of dampening out unwanted road vibrations and kickback without marring the sublime feedback enthusiast drivers crave. At the same time, the suspension keeps the Audi A3 buttoned down without transmitting harsh road impacts to the cabin. The most significant drawback to the A3 is its small backseat -- the lack of legroom makes it a tight fit for adults.

Used Audi A3 Models

The Audi A3 was introduced as a 2006 model in the United States. From 2006-'09 a 3.2-liter V6 engine was available that produced 250 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. It was outfitted with Quattro and the S tronic transmission standard. Trim levels also corresponded with engine choice (2.0T and 3.2 Quattro).

There were other significant changes made for '09. The exterior and interior were refreshed, most notably with Audi's signature larger grille and LED running lights. Leather upholstery, satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack became standard equipment, while the 2.0T could now be equipped with Quattro. Hill-hold assist was added to manual-transmission-equipped cars.

Subaru Impreza 2010 Review :

What Edmunds.com says

The 2010 Subaru Impreza's impressive performance and range of styles make it an appealing small car choice. But it's not an overall class leader in any of the niches it occupies.

Pros

Standard all-wheel drive, roomy seating front and rear, punchy turbocharged engines, highly capable handling in WRX and WRX STI trims, wide variety of styles.

Cons

Outdated four-speed automatic transmission, below-average fuel economy, high-tech features are unintuitive to use, unpleasant sound systems.

What's New for 2010

For 2010, the Subaru Impreza receives minor changes throughout its extensive lineup, including a new grille design and new Special Edition packages for certain models. The WRX also gains a Limited trim level.

2010 Subaru Impreza Vehicle Overview

Introduction

Few vehicles have such a wide breadth of body styles, engines and target buyers as the 2010 Subaru Impreza. From a mountain-visiting outdoors enthusiast who desires the extra ground clearance of the Outback Sport, to the track-addicted driving enthusiast who desires the high-tech mechanicals of the WRX STI, there's an Impreza for practically everyone.

The Impreza is available as either a four-door sedan or a four-door hatchback. In base 2.5i form, it competes with compact cars like the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Mazda 3 and Volkswagen Golf. Though not as fuel-efficient as those models, its standard all-wheel-drive system sets it apart for those who live in areas where rain and snow are a way of life. The Outback Sport hatchback shares the 2.5i's engine but adds features like increased ground clearance and rugged body cladding, making it a unique offering in this segment.

There are also several performance-oriented Imprezas with increasing levels of spice. The 2.5GT provides considerably more punch than the base car, thanks to a turbocharged engine, but with its automatic transmission and moderate suspension tuning, it's designed for those who desire speed without any compromises in comfort. The performance-tuned WRX is a card-carrying member of the sport compact club along with the Chevy Cobalt SS, Mazdaspeed 3, Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart and VW GTI -- and a strong member too, with swift acceleration that tops all comers in the class.

The Impreza WRX STI is a rally-bred performance machine. Though tamed a bit when redesigned a few years ago, it remains a compelling choice for "Fast & Furious" types drawn to big turbos, all-wheel drive and limited-slip diffs. Of course, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X is an omnipresent thorn in its side and arguably more appealing considering its sharper handling.

Certainly, there's plenty to choose from in the lineup of 2010 Subaru Imprezas. We're fond of the Impreza, and each variant deserves a look from interested small car buyers. However, drawbacks like lackluster fuel economy, a quirky navigation interface and poor stereo sound keep it from being a clear-cut leader in any of the classes it competes in. Cross-shopping with one of the previous mentioned rivals is certainly a good idea.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2010 Subaru Impreza is available in four-door sedan and four-door hatchback body styles. Both are available in 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5GT, WRX and WRX Premium trims, while the hatchback also comes in Outback Sport and WRX STI trims.

The 2.5i comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels, full power accessories, keyless entry, air-conditioning, cruise control, a 60/40-split-folding rear seat, a tilt steering column and a four-speaker stereo with CD player. The 2.5i Premium adds 16-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a 10-speaker stereo with six-CD changer, auxiliary audio jack and steering-wheel controls.

Opting for the 2.5i Premium's Special Edition package adds foglights, sunroof and the contents of the All-Weather package (heated side mirrors, heated front seats and a windshield wiper de-icer). The Navigation & Power Moonroof package, meanwhile, further equips the Impreza with a sunroof, an automatic transmission, Bluetooth, a touchscreen navigation system, satellite radio and an RCA audio/video jack.

The Outback Sport is similar to the 2.5i Premium trim level but has 17-inch alloy wheels, a raised suspension, foglights, roof rails, bumper under-guards, different exterior trim special interior upholstery, the 10-speaker stereo and a standard All-Weather package. The 2.5GT adds to the 2.5i Premium a turbocharged engine, an automatic transmission, 17-inch alloy wheels, larger brakes, a mildly sport-tuned suspension, a hood scoop, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, automatic climate control, electroluminescent gauges and the All-Weather package.

The WRX is essentially a higher-performance version of the GT with a mandatory five-speed manual transmission, a more powerful engine, summer tires, a more aggressively tuned suspension, special WRX trim and aerodynamic body pieces. The WRX Premium adds the extra items from the 2.5i Premium. The Navigation and Power Moonroof package is optional. The WRX Limited adds to the Premium a sunroof, leather upholstery and satellite radio.

The WRX STI is equipped similarly to the WRX, but ups the performance ante even more. It gains a six-speed manual, 18-inch wheels, high-performance tires, Brembo brakes, front and rear limited-slip differentials, SI-Drive vehicle settings, an even more aggressively tuned suspension, a bigger hood scoop, xenon headlights, sport seats and faux-suede and leather upholstery. The STI's BBS Package adds multi-reflector foglights and 18-inch BBS wheels in either silver or gold (the latter not available with all colors). The BBS + Navigation Package adds the previous items, plus a navigation system, Bluetooth, RCA audio/video jacks and the single-CD player. The STI Special Edition (only 125 units will be imported) brings with it the wheels and suspension from Japan's STI spec C model, and decontents the car with halogen headlights, a four-speaker stereo, a single-CD player and manual climate control.

Powertrains and Performance

Every 2010 Subaru Impreza comes standard with all-wheel drive. The 2.5i and Outback Sport models are powered by a 2.5-liter horizontally opposed (boxer) four-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual with hill-start assist is standard and a four-speed automatic is optional. In performance testing, this engine with the manual went from zero to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds. Estimated fuel economy is below average for a small car -- the manual gets 20 mpg city/27 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined, while the automatic drops the highway number to 26 mpg.

The 2.5GT is powered by a turbocharged version of the 2.5-liter engine producing 224 hp and 226 lb-ft of torque. The four-speed automatic is the only transmission available. Its 0-60 time should be about 6.5 seconds. Fuel economy estimates are 19/24/21. The WRX has a revised version of the 2.5GT's engine that cranks out 265 hp and 244 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual is the lone transmission choice. Its 0-60 time in testing was a snappy 5.2 seconds, while fuel economy estimates are 18/25/21. The WRX STI gets even more boost for 305 hp and 290 lb-ft of torque. With its standard six-speed manual, the STI achieves fuel economy of 17/23/19 and, more importantly, reaches 60 mph in a blazing 4.5 seconds.

Safety

Standard on all Impreza models are antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints to help mitigate crash-induced whiplash.

In government crash tests, the 2010 Subaru Impreza scored a perfect five stars for frontal crash protection, five stars for front occupants in a side crash and four stars for rear occupants in a side crash. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Impreza its highest-possible rating of "Good" in the frontal-offset and side-impact crash tests.

Interior Design and Special Features

Whether you opt for the sedan or hatchback, the Subaru Impreza provides a spacious cabin with loads of head- and legroom. The hatch obviously provides more cargo room, with a maximum 44 cubic feet of space. Seat comfort in the 2.5i models is only so-so, and the driving position suffers from the lack of a telescoping steering wheel (it only comes on the 2.5GT trim level and higher). The seats are also much better on the performance-oriented models, though the STIs lack lateral support relative to their rivals.

The interior design is pleasant enough and materials quality is about what you'd expect for the compact class, though it starts to seem cheap when you're paying $35,000 for the STI. Stereo and especially climate controls are simple and straightforward. Opting for the navigation system increases the complexity of the stereo, as its menus and graphics aren't the cleanest around. Sound quality, regardless of stereo, is notably poor.

Driving Impressions

The base 2010 Subaru Impreza rides and handles satisfactorily for a compact car, and its tenacious all-wheel-drive grip is a boon for wet-weather driving. The naturally aspirated 2.5-liter boxer has more aural character than your typical economy-grade four-cylinder, and it delivers adequate punch when called on. The 2.5 GT is decently fast in a straight line, but its performance is perceptibly blunted by the lazy four-speed auto. Moreover, the GT is uninspiring when the road gets twisty, owing to its incongruously soft suspension.

The WRX, however, is an impressive performance machine for the money, featuring upgraded power and considerably more athletic and confidence-inspiring moves through the corners thanks to its firmer suspension and summer performance tires. The WRX STI kicks it up a few more notches via its twin limited-slip differentials, powerful Brembo brakes, six-speed manual transmission and potent rush of acceleration whenever the throttle is wide open. Ride quality on the WRX models is acceptable considering the performance, but some drivers may object to the extra levels of road noise.
